My father-in-law’s cat looked up at me holding my camara, so I snapped a picture of him from above. He had a few scratches on his face the day I took this picture. He’s a tough cat and tends to get into fights with cats or dogs that wonder near my father-in-law’s house.

Below is my entry for the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge. This week the theme is “Green”. The challenge is to post a mosaic gallery of photos containing the color green. Forest green happens to be one of my favorite colors. So I really enjoyed looking for green photos.

“Where did the giant and the rest of his game pieces go?”

My husband and son playing outside the Menil Collection Art Museum in Houston. My husband was trying to play jacks with a water bottle. I believe that jack is a little too big. Our son was around six years old in this photo.
This week, “big” is the theme for the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge. Click on the badge below for more details on the challenge and to see other entries.

The photo below is a photo of my husband and I on our honeymoon at the Grand Canyon in April 1999. We each stuck a foot out at the edge of the Canyon. I consider my husband my best friend.

The view from my workplace window today while I was warming some macaroni and cheese in the employee lounge. Not a single cloud in the sky today.

I know summer is approaching in Houston, Texas, when I see the temperature rising. I really do prefer the spring. The summers in Houston are brutally hot and humid. The humidity makes you feel even hotter. During my lunchtime today, the thermometer in my car reads 91 degrees fahrenheit. However, in June the car thermometer sometimes goes up to 115 or higher. Although it says “Outside” on the thermometer, this temperature is the temperature inside the car. It’s hard to see the temperature on the first photo, so I added the second photo with a close up view.

I had to get a little creative with this week’s Daily Post photo challenge. I only have one photo of a hand, but it shows my sweaty hand. It was a photo I took for the A-Z Archive: H Challenge. And I wanted to use a different photo. A photo I haven’t posted before. So, I found a photo of my son fishing for the first time when he was nine years old and cropped the photo to only show his hands casting the fishing line. You can see his hands on the left side of the photo. If you do a single left click on the photo, you can enlarge it.

When I read the Weekly Challenge, right away I thought of sky. However, I also felt playful and thought of a group of one of my favorite cartoon characters, the Smurfs. So I’m doing both. Above, are the Smurfs my son did not want when he found them in some McDonald’s Happy Meals. Okay, one or two were in my son’s happy meal. He doesn’t like the Smurfs. The rest I got from eating happy meals for a couple of days for lunch. I normally don’t eat so many cheese burgers. I really wanted the Smurf collection. I have them on my desk at work on my computer.
Below is the sky before a storm this past Friday.

Thirty minutes later, I took the photo below.

I posted this photo a few days ago, but I think it works good for the challenge. I took this picture while my family, and I were driving down the road. As soon as I saw the deer, I took my camera out. Luckily my husband was driving and the deer was near the passenger side. So it was taken in a moving car. It’s out of focused, but I think it has a nice look to it.

A deer near a road in Brazos Bend State Park in Texas in 2009. My family and I enjoy going to George Observatory nearby. There’s no light pollution, so you can see many stars at night.

This is one of my favorite photos of my son and husband together. I took it on a fishing trip we took a few years ago near Galveston, Texas.

A few weeks ago, I was getting ready to leave for work, and I looked up and saw the morning sun peeking behind the clouds.
