June Peace Post

“This month I challenge you to explore how to have peace in relationships or how to have peace at home.”

-Kozo of Bloggers for Peace

Below is a moving video and lyrics of a song that I think exemplifies how I feel about finding peace in relationships. I guess you can say I feel that finding peace in relationships starts with making a commitment to never give up. To never give up on my husband, my son, my family, my relationships. This outlook may sound naive or simple, but from my own experience it has made a difference. It hasn’t been easy having to visit my husband at a psychiatric hospital a couple of times in the past years while he recovers from severe psychotic symptoms due to his bipolar disorder. It’s been more than eight years, since he was at a psychiatric hospital. I truly believe, that an attitude of perseverence and patience made a difference in his recovery when he was very sick and has helped maintain peace in our relationship as a couple and as a family.

“Success requires persistence, the ability to not give up in the face of failure.”

“I Won’t Give Up”
by Jason Mraz

When I look into your eyes
It’s like watching the night sky
Or a beautiful sunrise
Well, there’s so much they hold
And just like them old stars
I see that you’ve come so far
To be right where you are
How old is your soul?

Well, I won’t give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I’m giving you all my love
I’m still looking up

And when you’re needing your space
To do some navigating
I’ll be here patiently waiting
To see what you find

‘Cause even the stars they burn
Some even fall to the earth
We’ve got a lot to learn
God knows we’re worth it
No, I won’t give up

I don’t wanna be someone who walks away so easily
I’m here to stay and make the difference that I can make
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use
The tools and gifts we got, yeah, we got a lot at stake
And in the end, you’re still my friend at least we did intend
For us to work we didn’t break, we didn’t burn
We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what I’ve got, and what I’m not, and who I am

I won’t give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I’m giving you all my love
I’m still looking up, still looking up.

Well, I won’t give up on us (no I’m not giving up)
God knows I’m tough enough (I am tough, I am loved)
We’ve got a lot to learn (we’re alive, we are loved)
God knows we’re worth it (and we’re worth it)

I won’t give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I’m giving you all my love
I’m still looking up

About Claudia

Hi!! My name is Claudia. Blogging is sort of a creative/therapeutic activity for me. I blog about being a wife, mother, student, caseworker, and simply being human through photography, words, music, and blog challenges. Mental illness has also been part of my life, so you'll sometimes find mental health and psychology in my posts. I've dealt with anxiety and depression most of my life. And my husband has bipolar disorder. My hope is that I may show readers that it is possible for people to live positive, productive lives despite mental illness, challenges, or frustrations.
