Describes Me

I’ve decided to do a music challenge I discovered at MindLovesMisery blog. It’s a 30 day music challenge. I’m not planning to do it in 30 days or in order. I find it’s easier and more fun to just post as I hear a song that fits any of the prompts and create a list under each post showing the prompts I’ve completed.

The following song describes me. Not surprisingly, I heard this song for the first time on the TV show Alias (2001-2006).  I guess that’s one of the reasons I like that show so much.  Not only do I enjoy repeatedly following the complexed characters and story, but the music on the show is thoughtful and relatable.  Unfortunately, most of the best songs only seem to be found on the DVDs of the show and not Netflix.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy and can relate to this one as much as I did.

I say that the song describes me most of the time because it illustrates an attitude that I agree with. Even though I’m a little “rough around the edges”, it’s gonna be alright. Like I always remind my son, it always turns out alright at the end. I truly believe this attitude comes from my faith in God that was nurtured in me as a child and has been nurtured through my experiences, both good and bad, as an adult. Therefore, this attitude describes me because the majority of the time it guides my actions. Though fear and doubt are often obstacles, the attitude prevails at the end. As usual the lyrics are below the video.

Day 01: A song that describes you:

Rough Around the Edges

by Teitur

“Rough around the Edges”

I’m lost in my head, been thinking all around
I’ve gotta find the off ramp to my heart.
Stop lights in a row, when all I want is go
Drop it into first and I’ll get home.

Its ok I’m alright
I’m just a little rough around the edges of this life.
Play it cool, you can always follow
Bread crumbs in a line when you are lost.

Little little seeds grew into troubled trees
A sorry sorry sight between my ears.
I need to settle down and eat my troubled fruit
The sweetness of the taste will do me good.

Its ok I’m alright
I’m just a little rough around the edges of this life.
Play it cool you can always follow
Bread crumbs in a line when you are lost.

Well the corners of my frown have slowly turned around
No more upside down, no more upside down.
They’ve slowly turned around, they’ve slowly slowly turned around

Its ok I’m alright
I’m just a little rough around the edges of this life.
Play it cool you can always follow
Bread crumbs in a line when you are lost.

About Claudia

Hi!! My name is Claudia. Blogging is sort of a creative/therapeutic activity for me. I blog about being a wife, mother, student, caseworker, and simply being human through photography, words, music, and blog challenges. Mental illness has also been part of my life, so you'll sometimes find mental health and psychology in my posts. I've dealt with anxiety and depression most of my life. And my husband has bipolar disorder. My hope is that I may show readers that it is possible for people to live positive, productive lives despite mental illness, challenges, or frustrations.
