Weekly Sunday Post – Favorite Anime

Jake and his Weekly Sunday Posts are back, and he has challenged bloggers with the theme of Favorite Anime. From Jake’s description, I’ve interpreted favorite cartoon or animation and photographed some of my son’s toys, his Bionicles. After these toys were released in 2001, they were given their own animated series which my son enjoyed watching. The photo below is of one of those Bionicles with others around it.

Bionicles

Ever since my son was around four years old, he has liked building and collecting Lego sets. One unusual Lego series he has collected is this series called Bionicles. For a few years, from 2001 to 2010, Lego made numerous versions of this series and then stopped. My son would watch the Bionicles cartoons, and I would buy him a Bionicle to build every couple of weeks. The Bionicles became a favorite animated series for him. Today, my son still has his Bionicle collection in his room, but he doesn’t watch the animated Bionicle shows anymore. If you’re curious about the series, below is a video I discovered on YouTube with clips from the Bioncles animated series.

Hope After Surgery

“Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.”

Above are some signs of hope in my hospital room after my surgery last Wednesday. The fluffy bear, I named “Fluffy”, was a gift from my husband. The tulips from my mother and father. The book is for school. The IV bags and equipment were hope for physical healing. The sunlight and the food tray also gave me hope.

This post is my entry for Jake’s Weekly Sunday Post. This week’s prompt is “Hope”. Click on the badge below for more information and more entries my other bloggers.

Weekly Sunday Post – People

These photos were taken when my husband and I went on our honeymoon to the Grand Canyon in 1999.  The top photo shows people up close admiring the beauty of the Grand Canyon.  The one below shows people in the distance admiring the Canyon.  I didn’t have a digital camara or iPhone back then, so I scanned both images to create this post.

This week, “People” is the theme for Jake’s Weekly Sunday Post. For more details and entries go to Jake’s blog by clicking the badge below.

Weekly Sunday Post – Autumn

Autumn reminds me of fall festivals like the Texas Renaissance Festival. The festival usually begins sometime in October every year. The photo above shows my son at the Renaissance Festival at 3 years old. He’s having fun posing with some of Robin Hood‘s pals. We had just bought him a wooden play sword.

My son continues to pose after the Renaissance characters have left. I scanned these pictures so they look a bit grainy.

March 2001, the birth of our son. New mother, new father, and newborn son. My son’s first picture after birth. The picture was taken by his proud and exhausted Daddy. The “new” is for “N” for Frizztext’s A-Z Archive Photo Challenge. I used the Snapseed iPhone photography app to change the color photo to black and white for Jake’s Weekly Sunday Post.

Weekly Sunday Post – Road

At first I thought of posting a photo of a road, since my family and I like road trips so much. But I decided to do something different and post a photo of something we saw while driving on a road. Below is a photo of a tamale by the side of the road.

On a country road between my house and Alvin, Texas, my family and I saw this very large tamale. I imagine the family that lives in that home sells tamales to passersby.

Weekly Sunday Post: Collectibles

“Collectibles and Collecting–groups of items of a similar type that are acquired and saved as a hobby.” –from Jake’s Blog

I enjoy collecting songs of different genres. I literally have a song or group of songs for how I feel at any given time or for different activities like chores, exercise, work,or relaxing. Sometimes if I hear a song I like on a movie or on the radio, I will figure out it’s name and buy it online. I save all these songs on my iPod pictured above. My collection can go anywhere I go.
