Instrumental Song

I’ve decided to do a music challenge I discovered at MindLovesMisery blog. It’s a 30 day music challenge. I’m not planning to do it in 30 days or in order. I find it’s easier and more fun to just post as I hear a song that fits any of the prompts and create a list under each post showing the prompts I’ve completed.

In time for Christmas, here’s another song for the challenge.  I can play a very simple cover of this song on the piano, but I prefer to post a more pleasant-sounding performance of the song.  The video below is David Lanz’s more complexed cover of the song on piano.

Day 20: A song you can play on an instrument-

Silent Night performed by David Lanz

————

“Silent Night”

Silent night, Holy night
All is calm, all is bright
‘Round yon virgin , mother and child
Holy infant so, tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, Holy night
Shepherds quake, at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly, hosts sing Hallelujah.
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born.

Silent night, Holy night
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord at thy birth
Jesus, Lord at thy birth.

A Calming Song

I’ve decided to do a music challenge I discovered at MindLovesMisery blog. It’s a 30 day music challenge. I’m not planning to do it in 30 days or in order. I find it’s easier and more fun to just post as I hear a song that fits any of the prompts and create a list under each post showing the prompts I’ve completed.

Here’s another song for the challenge. The video I found on YouTube is just as soothing as the song. The lyrics are below the video.

Day 15: A song that calms you down–

How Can I Keep From Singing performed by Enya

————

“How Can I Keep From Singing”

My life goes on in endless song
Above earth’s lamentations,
I hear the real, though far-off hymn
That hails a new creation.

Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear it’s music ringing,
It sounds an echo in my soul.
How can I keep from singing?

While though the tempest loudly roars,
I hear the truth, it liveth.
And though the darkness ’round me close,
Songs in the night it giveth.

No storm can shake my inmost calm,
While to that rock I’m clinging.
Since love is lord of heaven and earth
How can I keep from singing?
When tyrants tremble in their fear
And hear their death knell ringing,
When friends rejoice both far and near
How can I keep from singing?

In prison cell and dungeon vile
Our thoughts to them are winging,
When friends by shame are undefiled
How can I keep from singing?

Love

This week, I’m sharing a song called “Love is Here” by the Christian band Tenth Avenue North. I think this song illustrates very well what being Christian means to me. And I constantly have to remind myself that “love is here”. I often forget with all the stresses and distractions around me and within me. I’ve been listening to this song almost everyday for the past few weeks. I don’t remember where I first heard it, but when I heard I had to buy a copy. The video I found on YouTube has the lyrics and some beautiful photos to go with the song. Enjoy! If you are viewing this post from a cell phone, the video may not show. Not sure why, but it does work on a computer.

Lyrics:

Come to the waters
You who thirst and you’ll thirst no more
Come to the Father
You who work and you’ll work no more

And all you who labor in vain
And to the broken and shamed

Love is here
Love is now
Love is pouring from His hands, from His brow
Love is near it satisfies
Streams of mercy flowing from His side
‘Cause Love is here

Come to the treasure
You who search and you’ll search no more
Come to the lover
You who want and you’ll want no more, no

And all you who labor in vain
And to the broken and shamed, yeah

Love is here
Love is now
Love is pouring from His hands, from His brow
Love is near it satisfies
Streams of mercy flowing from His side, yeah

And to the bruised and fallen
Captives bound and brokenhearted
He is the Lord, He is the Lord, yeah
By His stripes He’s paid our ransom
From His wounds we drink salvation
He is the Lord, He is the Lord

Love is here
Love is now
Love is pouring from His hands, from His brow
Love is near it satisfies
Streams of mercy flowing from His side
Streams of mercy flowing from His side
‘Cause Love is here
Love is here

More Inspiring Music

There are many songs and pieces of music that have helped me deal with the ups and downs of life.  The video below is for the song “Everything Falls” by the Christian band Fee.  For me, it really says a lot when I am feeling down and feeling up. It reminds me that there is a power higher than me or anyone or any situation. To share this song, I found a perfect video on Youtube that illustrates the song with lyrics and inspiring images.  Enjoy!
