A Sing Along Song

I’ve decided to do a music challenge I discovered at MindLovesMisery blog. It’s a 30 day music challenge. I’m not planning to do it in 30 days or in order. I find it’s easier and more fun to just post as I hear a song that fits any of the prompts and create a list under each post showing the prompts I’ve completed.

This week’s song cheers me up and makes me sing. Hope the song, and the video I found, puts a smile on your face and maybe makes you sing along, too. Enjoy!

Day 21: A song you sing along to every time you hear it:

Beauty in the World

by Macy Gray

————

“Beauty in th World”

I know you’re fed up
Life don’t let up for us
All they talk about is what is going down
And what’s been messed up for us

When I look around
I see blue skies
I see butterflies
For us

Listen to the sound
And lose it
In sweet music
And dance with me

‘Cause there is beauty in the world
So much beauty in the world
Always beauty in the world
So much beauty in the world

Shake your booty, boys and girls
For the beauty in the world
Pick your diamond, pick your pearl
There is beauty in the world

All together now

We need more loving
We need more money, they say
Change is gonna come like the weather
They say forever, they say

So baby, in between
Notice the blue skies
Notice the butterflies
Notice me

Stop and smell the flowers
And lose it
In sweet music
And dance with me

‘Cause there is beauty in the world
So much beauty in the world
Always beauty in the world
There is beauty in the world

So shake your booty, boys and girls
Yeah, beauty in the world
Pick your diamond, pick your pearl
‘Cause there is beauty in the world
All together now

Heya, throw your hands up and holler
Heya, throw your hands up and holler
When you don’t know what to do
Don’t know if you’ll make it through
Remember that He’s given you beauty in the world

So love
(Beauty in the world)
Yeah, love
(Beauty in the world)

There is beauty in the world
Beauty in the world

Shake your booty, boys and girls
(Boys and Girls)
All the beauty in the world
(Beauty in the world)

Pick your diamond, pick your pearl
(Pick your pearl)
There is beauty in the world
(Beauty in the world)

All together now
Yeah, love, yeah, love
Oh, love
All together now

Hey, baby, when I’m looking at you
I know this fact is true
There is hope for love
There is beauty in the world

Hey, baby
Hey, baby, when I’m looking at you
I know this fact is true
There’s love, there’s hope for love
There’s beauty in the world

My Guilty Pleasure Song

I’ve decided to do a music challenge I discovered at MindLovesMisery blog. It’s a 30 day music challenge. I’m not planning to do it in 30 days or in order. I find it’s easier and more fun to just post as I hear a song that fits any of the prompts and create a list under each post showing the prompts I’ve completed.

Here’s this week’s song.  My husband does not like this song.  You’ll understand when you listen to it and see the video.  I feel guilty sometimes about listening to it and the video doesn’t help lessen that guilt.  Also the fact that I am Catholic and the song is by Sinead O’Connor doesn’t help either (remember the Saturday Night Live pope picture incident).  However, I do think the song is more about finding a higher power than about hating men.  At least, I like to think of it that way when I listen to it.  When I get past the guilt, and forgive Sinead O’Connor, I find it to be an empowering song about going beyond worldly expectations and looking up to something more amazing than what we can see.  As a matter of fact, the name of the album where you can find this song is called Faith and Courage. Listen for yourself and see what you think.  The lyrics are after the video.  I would advise you to pay more attention to the lyrics and less on the video.  Enjoy!

Day 17: A guilty pleasure song:

No Man’s Woman

by Sinead O’Connor

————

“No Man’s Woman”

I don’t wanna be no man’s woman
It don’t make me happy this mantrolling
Thing that you got for me so I become
No man’s woman

I don’t wanna be no man’s woman
I’ve other work I want to get done
I haven’t traveled this far to become
No man’s woman
No man’s woman

‘Cause I’m tired of it
And I’m not scared of it
That I’ll never trust again
‘Cause a man could fake you
Take your soul and make you
Miserable in so much pain

My friends think I’m alone but I’ve got secrets
I don’t tell everything about the love I get
I got a loving man but he’s a spirit

He never does me harm never treats me bad
He never takes away all the love he has
And I forgive him a million times

I’m never tired of it
And I’m not scared of it
‘Cause it doesn’t cause me pain
Like a man could fake you
Take your soul and make you
Never be yourself again

I never wanna be no man’s woman
I only wanna be my own woman
I haven’t traveled this far to become
No man’s woman
No man’s woman
No man’s woman

A Thousand Miles

I find it’s easier and more fun to just post as I hear a song that fits any of the prompts and create a list under each post showing the prompts I’ve completed.

Here’s this week’s song.  It’s a song I would put on a playlist for my husband and son.  Sometimes, I find myself questioning if going back to school was a good idea.  Commuting across town and working 9AM to 7PM four days and 9Am to 2PM for one day to go to school can be tiring and lonely.  Often there are very few people left at work after 5PM and I start to long for my husband and son and my comfy, relaxing home.  During this time of the day, my family starts to feel like they’re a thousand miles away.  Also during extra challenging work days, I feel this way most of the day.  Vanessa Carlton does a great job of expressing that longing feeling in her song “A Thousand Miles”.  The song has great piano and instrumental music and a unique moving piano video.  Enjoy!!

Day 23: A song that you would put

on a playlist for someone special:

A Thousand Miles

by Vanessa Carlton

————

“A Thousand Miles”

Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I’m home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd

And I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder….

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
‘Cause you know I’d walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
Tonight

It’s always times like these
When I think of you
And I wonder
If you ever
Think of me

‘Cause everything’s so wrong
And I don’t belong
Living in your
Precious memory

‘Cause I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder….

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
‘Cause you know I’d walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
Tonight

And I, I
Don’t want to let you know
I, I
Drown in your memory
I, I
Don’t want to let this go
I, I
Don’t….

Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I’m home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd

And I still need you
And I still miss you
And now I wonder….

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass us by
‘Cause you know I’d walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you…

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
‘Cause you know I’d walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
If I could
Just hold you
Tonight

December Peace Post

b4peace

“After last months challenge of loving thy enemy, I want to give you a party. So this months challenge is to plan a party that will ripple peace to the world. Use everything in your imagination for this peace party….”
-Kozo

————–

Believe it or not, the idea of having a party is scary for me.  So when I read Kozo’s challenge for December, I was not thrilled.  Quiet solitude or time with a few friends and family are enough for me.  Anything bigger is no fun. Okay, that is not all true. I do prefer solitude and a few friends and family, but I have gone to music concerts and had a great time. As a matter of fact, I remember going to a U2 concert in 2005 with my husband and feeling like I was at church. No kidding, it had some kind of spiritual feel about it. Thinking back on that experience, I realize that thousands of people focused on something positive is a powerful thing. In that case, it was U2’s amazingly uplifting music performance. Thinking about this particular concert experience and the idea of a peace party, something else came to mind. I remembered LiveAid in 1985 and how concerts were organized to benefit famine in Africa. That event was also very powerful and memorable.

So here’s my little idea for a party for peace.  Since, I love music so much, my peace party would be a concert festival with music, food, and art from different parts of the world.  I would invite my family, friends, neighbors, fellow bloggers, and everyone that wanted to come.  Proceeds from the concert festival earnings from t-shirts, art, music, and food would go to a foundation created to support the work of promoting peace through social media and a yearly concert festival for peace.

Of course, it would be nice if U2 would play and bring everyone together in a big final musical performance at the end of the concert festival for peace.  And usually around this time of the week I have a music post, but I really wanted to post this last peace post of the year before January got here.  So, instead of the usual music challenge, I’ll attach a song from the 1985 LiveAid concert to the end of this post.  That way you can get a feel of what this concert festival for peace could be like.  Below is a video that is a great example of the energy that Bono and his band U2 give off during their performances.  The lyrics to the song are below the video. The song that is performed is actually 5 to 6 minutes long, but for this special performance they extend it and improvise for an additional 5 to 6 minutes while engaging the audience and being very open and spontaneous.  And as a person struggling with finding peace despite social anxiety, I really admire the spontaneity of performers and others.  I believe you have to have some sort of peace within yourself to be able to have such spontaneity.  The song is one of my favorite U2 songs, “Bad“. Contrary to the title of the song, the song makes me want to do more good and be more responsible in making the world a better place, more peaceful. On the internet, there are multiple meanings to this song.  I’d like to think it’s about struggling with yourself as your own worse enemy and finally feeling “wide awake” at the end.  And guess what, I forgot how anxious I can get in social situations.  I guess the idea of thinking of everyone having a good time full of peace, hope, and spontaneity helps take the anxiety away.  What a peaceful thought that is…

If you twist and turn away
If you tear yourself in two again
If I could, yes I would
If I could, I would
Let it go
Surrender
Dislocate

If I could throw this
Lifeless lifeline to the wind
Leave this heart of clay
See you walk, walk away
Into the night
And through the rain
Into the half-light
And through the flame

If I could through myself
Set your spirit free
I’d lead your heart away
See you break, break away
Into the light
And to the day

To let it go
And so to fade away
To let it go
And so fade away

I’m wide awake
I’m wide awake
Wide awake
I’m not sleeping
Oh, no, no, no

If you should ask then maybe they’d
Tell you what I would say
True colors fly in blue and black
Bruised silken sky and burning flag
Colors crash, collide in blood shot eyes

If I could, you know I would
If I could, I would
Let it go…

This desparation
Dislocation
Separation
Condemnation
Revelation
In temptation
Isolation
Desolation
Let it go

And so fade away
To let it go
And so fade away
To let it go
And so to fade away

I’m wide awake
I’m wide awake
Wide awake
I’m not sleeping
Oh, no, no, no

A Song I Dislike?

I’ve decided to do a music challenge I discovered at MindLovesMisery blog. It’s a 30 day music challenge. I’m not planning to do it in 30 days or in order. I find it’s easier and more fun to just post as I hear a song that fits any of the prompts and create a list under each post showing the prompts I’ve completed.

Here’s another song for the challenge.  The theme for this day of the music challenge was extra challenging for me.  I don’t feel comfortable posting a song I don’t like, so I decided to post a song that at one time I didn’t like.  Let me explain.  When I first heard Dirt Room by Blue October, I actually thought it was violent and negative.  I later found out that the lead singer of the group Blue October has a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and feels strongly about not being passive towards people who take advantage of a person for who they are.  Also, he is a nonviolent person.  When interviewed about the song by Soundsphere Magazine he said: “I try to teach self-expression instead of physical violence!…”  After finding out where the singer/songwriter was coming from, the song really hit home.  And I started to see the song more as a metaphor for negative thoughts, ideas, anxieties, perceptions, etc. that get in the way of a person’s livelihood and the anger and frustration that accompany the confrontation of those negatives.  The video that goes along with this song may be a bit disturbing to some  as it was to me until I saw the ending.  Be assured that the lady ends up calling the police and does not end up doing what you probably think she is going to do.  By the way, the lead singer, Justin Steward Furstenfeld, is from Texas and went to high school in, what I consider my hometown, Houston.

Day 24: A song you dislike (or at least didn’t like until you found out what it’s about)-

Dirt Room by Blue October

————

“Dirt Room”

I’m like a ghost
I’ll be living in a dirt room
Waiting for the day to be closer
To the window when you’re home
I’ll be standing by your back door
Reaching for the knife in my coat
I’m going to put it to your throat
Sweaty piggy, you’re a bad man
What a *** sad way to go
Your mother raised you as a joke
I should have wiped away a burden
Use the curtain in the kitchen to choke
You

You think you own me
You should have known me
You took the future and the food off my family’s plate
You think you’ll use me
I’m stronger than you
You take my money, but it’s useless
When you see what I do to you
Look what I do to you

Oh God then you awoke
You started screaming through the duct tape
Don’t ever think I’m letting you go
I’m busy digging you a hole
Now you’ll be living in a dirt room
Breathing through the straw of your own
Come on
I really think that this is fun for the money
I’ll make it comfy for the time wasted making you rich
I want to cover you in ants, bees and honey
Then take a picture for the cover of our album!

You think you own me
You should have known me
You took the future and the food off my family’s plate
You think you’ll use me
I’m stronger than you
You take my money, but it’s useless
When you see what I do to you

You think you own me
You should have known me
You took the future and the food off my family’s plate
You think you’ll use me
But I’m stronger than you
You take my money, but it’s useless
When you see what I do to you

And now I see you, oh
‘Cause your back’s against the wall
And finally you’re mine
You’re mine

You think you own me
You should have known me
You took the future and the food off my family’s plate
You think you’ll use me
I’m stronger than you
You take my money, but it’s useless
When you see what I do to you

I really think that this is fun for the money
We’ll make you comfy for the time wasted making you rich
I want to cover you in ants, bees and honey
Then take a picture for the cover of our album!

A Currently Popular Song

Here’s another song for the challenge. I just discovered this song this week.  Trying to find a current and popular song I like, I looked under the most popular songs on iTunes.  I thought this song was perfect for my anxiety issues.  And the official video is perfect, too.  The lyrics are below the video.  I hope you enjoy the song and video as much as I did. By the way, there may be an ad at the beginning of the video, but it’s a brief 10 to 20 seconds.

Day 28: A current and popular song you like–

Brave by Sara Bareilles

————

“Brave”

You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing’s gonna hurt you the way that words do
When they settle ‘neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

Everybody’s been there,
Everybody’s been stared down by the enemy
Fallen for the fear
And done some disappearing,
Bow down to the mighty
Don’t run, stop holding your tongue
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

And since your history of silence
Won’t do you any good,
Did you think it would?
Let your words be anything but empty
Why don’t you tell them the truth?

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
See you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you

Song Through the Pain

I’ve decided to do a music challenge I discovered at MindLovesMisery blog. It’s a 30 day music challenge. I’m not planning to do it in 30 days or in order. I find it’s easier and more fun to just post as I hear a song that fits any of the prompts and create a list under each post showing the prompts I’ve completed.

Here’s another song for the challenge.  I can’t really put a finger on what was happening to me when I found myself listening to this song over and over again, but I remember it was painful.  And this song was empowering.  I’ve actually listened to this song at different times in my life where I have been in severe emotional or physical pain.  The video has the lyrics, and the lyrics are also under the video.

Day 7: A song that has helped you through a painful time in your life–

You Gotta Be by Des’ree

————

“You Gotta Be”

Listen as your day unfolds
Challenge what the future holds
Try and keep your head up to the sky
Lovers they may cause your tears
Go ahead release your fears
Stand up and be counted don’t be ‘shamed to cry

You gotta be, you gotta be bad
You gotta be bold, you gotta be wiser
You gotta be hard, you gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm, you gotta stay together
All I know, all I know love will save the day

Herald what your mother said
Read the books your father read
Try to solve the puzzles in your own sweet time
Some may have more cash than you
Others take a different view
My, oh, my
he-eh-y

You gotta be bad
You gotta be bold, you gotta be wiser
You gotta be hard, you gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm, you gotta stay together
All I know, all I know love will save the day

Time asks no questions it goes on without you
Leaving you behind if you can’t stand the pace
The world keeps on spinning can’t stop it if you tried to
The best part is danger staring you in the face

Remember, listen as your day unfolds
Challenge what the future holds
Try to keep your head up to the sky
Lovers they may cause your tears
Go ahead release your fears
My, oh, my
He-ey-y

You gotta be bad
You gotta be bold, you gotta be wiser
You gotta be hard, you gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm, you gotta stay together
All I know, all I know love will save the day

You gotta be bad
You gotta be bold, you gotta be wiser
You gotta be hard, you gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm, you gotta stay together
All I know, all I know love will save the day

Got to be bold, Got to be bad
Got to be wise, no never sad
Got to be hard, not too too hard
All I know is love will save the day

You gotta be bad
You gotta be bold, you gotta be wiser
You gotta be hard, you gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm, you gotta stay together
Oooh, yeah yeah yeah

(Continue until fade)

A Favorite Duet

I’ve decided to do a music challenge I discovered at MindLovesMisery blog. It’s a 30 day music challenge. I’m not planning to do it in 30 days or in order. I find it’s easier and more fun to just post as I hear a song that fits any of the prompts and create a list under each post showing the prompts I’ve completed.

Here’s another song for the challenge.  The song is called “Lucky”, but I don’t believe in pure luck.  I think everything happens for a reason.  However, I think this song does a great job of expressing the feeling of gratitude I feel for the presence of a special person in my life.  The lyrics are below the video.  By the way, I’ve been married to my best friend for almost 15 years.  You’ll understand what I mean when you listen to the song.

Day 11: A Favorite Duet–

Lucky by Colbie Caillat and Jason Mraz

————

“Lucky”

( Jason )
Do you hear me,
I’m talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky, oh my, baby I’m trying

( Colbie )
Boy I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard

( same, chorus )
I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

They don’t know how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye
I wish we had one more kiss
I’ll wait for you I promise you, I will

I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Lucky we’re in love every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

( Jason )
And so I’m sailing through the sea
To an island where we’ll meet
You’ll hear the music fill the air
I’ll put a flower in your hair

( Colbie )
though the breezes through trees
Move so pretty you’re all I see
As the world keeps spinning round
You hold me right here right now

( Chorus )
I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
I’m lucky we’re in love every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

A Sad Song

I’ve decided to do a music challenge I discovered at MindLovesMisery blog. It’s a 30 day music challenge. I’m not planning to do it in 30 days or in order. I find it’s easier and more fun to just post as I hear a song that fits any of the prompts and create a list under each post showing the prompts I’ve completed.

So, here’s another song for the challenge with a very interesting video I found on YouTube.  The lyrics are below  the video. This song reminds me of my maternal grandmother who passed away in 2004. She died at the age of 91 of natural causes.  She was the first person in my life to which I was really close to pass away.

Day 9: A Song That Makes You Emotional or Sad–

The Scientist by Coldplay

————

“The Scientist”

Come up to meet you, tell you I’m sorry
You don’t know how lovely you are
I had to find you, tell you I need you
Tell you I’ll set you apart

Tell me your secrets and ask me your questions
Oh let’s go back to the start
Running in circles, coming in tails
Heads on a science apart

Nobody said it was easy
It’s such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard
Oh, take me back to the start.

I was just guessing at numbers and figures
Pulling your puzzles apart
Questions of science, science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart

Tell me you love me, come back and haunt me
Oh and I rush to the start
Running in circles, chasing our tails
Coming back as we are

Nobody said it was easy
Oh it’s such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard
I’m going back to the start

Ooooohhhhhhh [4x]

A Mind-Tripping Song

So, here’s another song for the challenge with a cute, often funny, simple video I found on YouTube.  And if you’re interested, the lyrics are after the video. My idea of mind-tripping is a thing or event that is unusual or weird. I find the lyrics to this song unusual and weird, but at the same time the entire song, lyrics and music, is uplifting. What do you think?

Day 12: A Mind-Tripping Song–

The Great Beyond by R.E.M

————

“The Great Beyond”

I’ve watched the stars fall silent from your eyes
All the sights that I have seen
I can’t believe that I believed I wished
That you could see
There’s a new planet in the solar system
There is nothing up my sleeve

I’m pushing an elephant up the stairs
I’m tossing up punch lines that were never there
Over my shoulder a piano falls
Crashing to the ground

In all this talk of time
Talk is fine
But I don’t want to stay around
Why can’t we pantomime, just close our eyes
And sleep sweet dreams
Me and you with wings on our feet

I’m pushing an elephant up the stairs
I’m tossing up punch lines that were never there
Over my shoulder a piano falls
Crashing to the ground

I’m breaking through
I’m bending spoons
I’m keeping flowers in full bloom
I’m looking for answers from the great beyond

I want the hummingbirds, the dancing bears
Sweetest dreams of you
I Look into the stars
I Look into the moon

I’m pushing an elephant up the stairs
I’m tossing up punch lines that were never there
Over my shoulder a piano falls
Crashing to the ground

I’m breaking through
I’m bending spoons
I’m keeping flowers in full bloom
I’m looking for answers from the great beyond

I’m breaking through
I’m bending spoons
I’m keeping flowers in full bloom
I’m looking for answers from the great
Answers from the great, answers

I’m breaking through
I’m bending spoons
I’m keeping flowers in full bloom
I’m looking for answers from the great beyond

I’m breaking through
I’m bending spoons
I’m keeping flowers in full bloom
I’m looking for answers from the great
Answers from the great, answers

I’m breaking through
I’m bending spoons
I’m keeping flowers in full bloom
I’m looking for answers from the great beyond

So, here’s another song for the challenge.  I have many favorite songs, so I decided to choose a song that I’m guessing few people have not heard to share.  I heard this song for the first time in the end credits of the movie The Odd Life of Timothy Green, an unusual Disney movie about a boy born in the garden of a couple that is unable to have children. At the end of the movie, he must return to where he came from. Other events happen after that, but I won’t say anymore for fear I will spoil the movie for anyone that hasn’t seen it. I included the lyrics after the video.  This song is also another song with exceptional lyrics.

Day 3: One of Your Favorite Songs —

This Gift by Glen Hansard

————

“This Gift”

This gift will last forever
This gift will never let you down
Some things are made from better stuff
This gift is waiting to be found

Your heart’s in wide receiving
Been too long buried in the sand
Some things require leaving
This gift will fall right in your hand
Just try to understand…

If you long enough
And you don’t give up
If you’re strong enough
And you don’t give up
And you…

You’ll be no harbor to the sorrow
Just let it go.

Don’t hang your head in sorrow
Don’t give up just before you win
Don’t wait around for tomorrow
Open up your arms and let it in

This gift will last forever
This gift will never let you down
Some things are made from better stuff
This gift is ready to be found
Just you believe it now

This gift will last forever
This gift will never let you down
Some things are made from better stuff
This gift is ready to be found
Your heart’s in wide receiving
Been too long buried in the sand
Some things require believing
These things just fall right in your hand
Just try to understand

If you long enough
And you don’t give up
If you’re strong enough
And you don’t give up [x2]

A Song With Exceptional Lyrics

I’ve decided to do a music challenge I discovered at MindLovesMisery blog. It’s a 30 day music challenge. I’m not planning to do it in 30 days or in order. I find it’s easier and more fun to just post as I hear a song that fits any of the prompts and create a list under each post showing the prompts I’ve completed.

So, here’s another song for the challenge. Below the video, I included the lyrics for the song; the challenge prompts; and my list, which will eventually have all 30. As the mother of a twelve year old son, the lyrics of the following song are very meaningful and exceptional.

Day 10: A Song With Exceptional Lyrics –
Better
by Toby Lightman

————

“Better”

He’ll be enough to make you cry
He’ll be enough to open your eyes
To all the little things that make this world better
He’ll give you love you never know
He’ll give his heart only to you
And he’ll make your life oh better

So when he comes to you in the middle of the night
Cause he’s scared to be alone in the dark
You’ll tell him everything’s gonna be alright

Cause I will be your light
I will be your night
I will be that star in the sky who watches over you

You’ll tell him everything you know
You’ll tell him “oh the places you’ll go”
So you can be a good man and
make this world better.
You’ll give him all the love you have
Even when he makes you so mad
Keep in mind, that he made your life better.

So when he comes to you and he’s so confused
Because he wants to give his heart to another
You’ll tell him everything’s gonna be just fine

Cause I will be your light
And when the years are going by too fast
and he’s growing up to be big and strong
Know his love for you will last
Even when he doesn’t say it to your face
Even when you have to put him in his place
Know that he’s a love that nothing in this
world can ever replace
